Lab Description:
The Manchester Memorial School technology lab currently consists of 24 student work stations, 2 servers, a demonstration station with a SMARTBoard and a multimedia setup. The lab also contains 3 projectors, a scanner, 21 digital cameras, 5 digital video cameras, 2 Web cams, a DVD player, a 32" monitor and a 27" monitor with a VCR, 2 B/W, 2 color laser printers and 2 digital microscopes. We have recently added 3 wireless laptop carts consisting of 25 iBooks and a laser printer. We have two 30-station AlphaSmart carts. The lab is networked throughout the school and with the High School, and all the computers have internet access on a shared T1 line. There are approximately 175 computers on our LAN. All of our professional staff have email addresses through our school server.
The lab is staffed by a full-time computer teacher and a 60% technology aide. Every student in the Memorial School (440+) visit the lab at least once per week. The program in the computer lab is designed to enrich the classroom curriculum, in that spirit, every attempt is made to integrate those classroom activities with all aspects of technology.
